Big news about life happening on Alpha Centauri

Update: 13 April 2020

To date, we have discovered many stars with the help of a Kepler space telescope, the search for life is going on continuously on the exoplanet orbiting those stars. We have discovered some exoplanet that may have life on it, but it is many light-years away from us and it is impossible to go there. Close to our solar system is the Alpha Centauri star system, which is only 4 light-years away from us.

A team of 31 scientists was formed from different countries of the world. All this work was being done under the Pale Red Dot project which was launched by the European Southern Observatory in January 2016. Who had to search for the exoplanet of Alpha Centauri where life could be worth living.

Alpha Centauri is a binary system consisting of three stars Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, and Proxima Centauri, Proxima Centauri is a red dwarf star that emits dangerous X-ray radiation space.

The 2013 Meiko Tommy hinted to be exoplanet near Alpha Centauri, it was named Proxima B. It was discovered from Planet Redial Velocity. It is 7.5 million kilometers away from its star. This planet can be 1.3 times heavier than our earth.

The habitable zone of Alpha Centauri c extends from 0.003 to 0.007 A.U and Proxima b falls in this habitable zone. It is possible that water is present here in liquid form, but if any planet is in a habitable zone, then it cannot be that there is life there. Life depends on other circumstances.

There are many problems in life on this planet, the biggest problem is that it is at a distance of 0.05 AU from Alpha Centauri and the exit from this star has made all the radiation like infrared, ultraviolet and x rays so strong that Proxima B, but life will be no less than hell.

Second, this problem may be that the planet can be tidally locked due to its low distance from Alpha Centauri. It can be on one side forever in the day and the other side in the dark, if this happens, there will be a lot of difference in the temperature on both sides, because the place of the middle will be favorable for life. Where the temperature will not be too hot nor too cold.

If we think that Proxima B is a favorable environment of life on the planet, then the species living on it will see two stars there, Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B.

In 2012, one such planet was predicted to be in Alpha Centauri B's orbit, but in 2015, it was discovered that no such Planet Exits would have guessed that this mistake was due to wrong data.

In 2013, another exoplanet was discovered in Alpha Centauri's Orbit, named Alpha Centauri BC. Its orbital period was estimated to be 12 days. Due to having a triple star system, there may be more chances of having more planets, but our theoretical study says that there may be planets like Earth in the orbit of Alpha Centauri A and B and life on it.

The two stars of Alpha Centauri are very close and it is difficult to study them one by one, even if there is life there, then the biggest difficulty before us will be how to travel for 4 light-years.

Alpha Centauri Facts-

  • Alpha Centauri is a binary star system consisting of 3 stars.
  • This is the third brightest star in our sky.
  • This star is 1.5 times brighter than our sun.
  • The rotation period of this star is 22 days rather our sun has a rotation period of 25 days.

Alpha Centauri Distance-

Alpha Centauri is a binary star system in which Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B are the two stars in which the distance of Alpha Centauri A is 4.2 light-years away from us and the distance of Alpha Centauri B is 4.3 light-years away from us.
